Planting & Care
1. Planting: Plant or repot within 4 weeks of arrival. Choose a location with full sun to partial shade and moist, well-drained soil. In hotter climates, provide some afternoon shade. Dig a hole twice as wide as the root ball and level with its depth, then backfill and water thoroughly.
2. Watering: Water deeply and regularly during the first growing season. Once established, keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged, especially during hot weather and while the shrub is flowering.
3. Pruning: Prune in late winter or early spring before new growth begins. Remove weak or damaged stems and shorten remaining branches by up to one-third to maintain a compact shape and encourage strong flowering.
4. Fertilizing: Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth appears. Avoid excessive fertilizer, which can promote leafy growth at the expense of blooms.
