Planting & Care
1. Planting: Plant or repot within 4 weeks of arrival. Remove the stake and ties at planting, as these are only for shipping. Choose a spot with partial shade to full sun and ensure the soil drains well. In warm zones, dogwoods perform best in shadier locations. Dig a hole twice the width of the root ball but no deeper than the ball itself. Place the tree in the hole, backfill with soil, and spread a 3” layer of mulch three feet around the tree. Water thoroughly.
2. Watering: Maintain consistent moisture, especially during the first few years as the tree establishes. Water deeply every week during dry periods, allowing the top inch of soil to dry out between watering sessions.
3. Pruning: Light pruning in late winter or early spring will help shape the tree and remove any dead or damaged branches. Since 'Wolf Eyes' is compact, minimal pruning is needed to maintain its form.
4. Fertilizing: Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring to encourage healthy growth. Make sure to follow the manufacturer's instructions regarding application rates.
