Show-stopping spring blooms and resilience

Immerse your landscape in beauty with this remarkable dogwood from the renowned Rutgers University breeding program. Combining the best traits of its parent species—Kousa and Nuttall’s dogwoods—this tree presents a striking aesthetic while showcasing impressive resilience and vigor. Its upright growing habit allows for easy integration into various spaces, making it an exceptional addition to any garden.

In spring, prepare to be delighted as the branches of young trees burst forth with large, bright-white floral bracts that create a stunning visual display. The Stellar Nova™ Tree not only impresses with its beauty but also boasts excellent leaf quality and a remarkable tolerance for summer heat. This hardy, disease-free tree not only enhances your yard with its striking appearance but also stands tall as a testament to robust health and longevity.

Planting & Care

1. Planting: Plant or repot within 4 weeks of arrival. Remove the stake and ties at planting, as these are only for shipping. Choose a location with well-draining soil and adequate sunlight, ideally in a spot that receives partial shade during the hottest parts of the day. Dig a hole that is twice the width of the root ball to give the roots plenty of room to spread.

2. Watering: Regular watering is crucial, especially during the first few years as the tree establishes. Aim to keep the soil consistently moist but not soggy. Water deeply once a week to encourage deep root growth; adjust frequency during particularly hot or dry spells.

3. Pruning: Prune as needed to maintain a healthy shape and remove any dead or crossing branches. The best time to prune is in late winter or early spring, just before new growth begins. This helps enhance air circulation and reduces the risk of disease.

4. Fertilizing: Fertilize in early spring with a balanced, slow-release fertilizer to support healthy growth. This will provide much-needed nutrients during the initial growing season. Avoid over-fertilization, as it can lead to excessive leaf growth with fewer blooms.
