Glossy foliage with a dramatic color shift
New leaves emerge in rich red to burgundy tones before maturing to deep green, creating an ever-changing display of color. Its large, glossy leaves and upright, self-supporting form provide a bold tropical accent without sprawling or climbing.
Forgiving care needs make it a practical choice for bright indoor spaces, shaded patios, or frost-free tropical landscapes. Its compact, vertical growth adds structure and color while fitting comfortably into smaller spaces and container groupings.
Planting & Care
1. Planting: Plant or repot within 4 weeks of arrival. Use a loose, well-draining potting mix and a container with drainage holes. Position it in bright, indirect light and protect it from harsh afternoon sun, cold drafts, and frost.
2. Watering: Water when the top 1–2 inches of soil feel dry. Soak the soil thoroughly, allow excess water to drain, and avoid leaving the container in standing water. Reduce watering during cooler, slower-growing months.
3. Pruning: Remove yellow, damaged, or aging leaves at their base with clean pruners. Its naturally upright form requires little shaping, though occasional pruning can keep the plant tidy and balanced.
4. Fertilizing: Apply a balanced liquid houseplant fertilizer at half strength every 4–6 weeks in spring and summer. Reduce or stop feeding in fall and winter when growth slows.
