Planting & Care
1. Planting: Plant or repot within 4 weeks of arrival. Remove the stake and ties at planting, as these are only for shipping. Choose a spot with well-drained soil and partial shade to ensure optimum growth. Dig a hole twice the width of the root ball but no deeper than the ball itself. Place the tree in the hole, backfill with soil, and spread a 3” layer of mulch three feet around the tree. Water thoroughly.
2. Watering: Keep the soil consistently moist but not soggy. Water thoroughly during dry spells, adjusting based on rainfall and temperature.
3. Pruning: Minimal pruning is required; however, remove any dead or crossing branches in late winter or early spring to maintain shape and health.
4. Fertilizing: Fertilize lightly in early spring with a balanced fertilizer, following package instructions. Avoid over-fertilization, as this can harm the roots and foliage.
