Planting & Care
1. Planting: Plant or repot within 4 weeks of arrival. Choose a location with well-draining, acidic soil. Warm zones should plant azaleas in morning sun and afternoon shade, while cooler zones can plant in more sun. Dig a hole that is twice as wide as the root ball and slightly shallower than its height. Place the plant in the center of the hole so that the top of the rootball is level with the soil line. Backfill with soil and spread a 3" layer of mulch three feet around the tree, pulling the mulch back a few inches from the base.
2. Watering: Keep the soil consistently moist, especially during dry periods. Water deeply once to twice a week, or more often during hot weather, ensuring the roots stay hydrated.
3. Pruning: Prune after flowering to remove spent blooms and any dead or damaged branches, encouraging new growth and repeat blooms.
4. Fertilizing: In early spring, use a balanced, slow-release fertilizer for acid-loving plants. Follow package instructions for the correct application.
