Depending on the climate, ruffled pink, anemone-like flowers appear from mid-fall into early winter. The lightly fragrant blooms brighten the yard when few other shrubs are flowering. This camellia is also resistant to deer, though no plant is completely deer-proof.

Planting & Care
1. Planting: Plant or repot within 4 weeks of arrival. Choose a site with partial shade and protection from harsh afternoon sun and drying winter winds. Plant in moist, well-drained, acidic soil with the top of the root ball slightly above ground level. Add mulch while keeping it away from the stems.
2. Watering: Water deeply after planting and regularly during the first growing season. Once established, keep the soil evenly moist but never waterlogged. Water during extended dry periods, especially while flower buds are developing.
3. Pruning: Little pruning is usually needed. Remove dead, damaged, or crossing branches after flowering, and shape lightly at the same time. Avoid late-season pruning because it may remove developing flower buds.
4. Fertilizing: Apply a slow-release fertilizer formulated for camellias or other acid-loving plants in early spring. Follow label directions and avoid overfertilizing or feeding late in the growing season.
