Year-round foliage and naturally rounded form

Planet Earth™ Arborvitae is a medium-sized evergreen shrub with vibrant, deep green foliage and a naturally rounded form. Tiny, scale-like leaves densely cover its branches for a full, lush appearance, transitioning to coppery bronze from late fall through winter. Its substantial shape makes it a useful choice for foundation plantings, evergreen borders, screens, or as a landscape accent.

Very cold hardy, Planet Earth™ Arborvitae provides reliable structure and seasonal interest even when many other plants are dormant. Like other Thuja occidentalis varieties, it performs best in regions with mild or short summers and may struggle in warmer areas where temperatures regularly exceed 95–100°F.

Planting & Care

1. Planting: Plant or repot within 4 weeks of arrival. Choose a location with full sun to partial shade and moist, well-drained soil. Dig a hole as deep as the root ball and about twice as wide, then plant with the top of the root ball level with the surrounding ground. Apply a 3” layer of mulch 3 feet around the shrub, pulling the mulch back from the base.

2. Watering: Water deeply after planting and regularly during the first growing season. Once established, water during extended hot or dry periods, keeping the soil evenly moist but not soggy. Thuja occidentalis performs best when it doesn’t completely dry out.

3. Pruning: Shear lightly in late winter or early spring to shape the shrub or remove damaged growth. Only shear the newest growth and avoid cutting back into old, bare wood.

4. Fertilizing: Apply a balanced, slow-release evergreen fertilizer in early spring if growth is weak or the soil lacks nutrients. Follow label directions and avoid overfertilizing.
