Soft blue-green foliage with a graceful fountain shape

This drought-tolerant evergreen brings year-round color and texture to the landscape with soft, arching blue-green leaves and a relaxed, fountain-like form. Unlike many spiky yuccas, its flexible foliage is less rigid, making it a practical choice near walkways, patios, and other well-used spaces. As it matures, it develops a short trunk or multi-stemmed structure that adds even more architectural interest.

In late spring or summer, tall central stalks rise above the foliage with clusters of fragrant, bell-shaped, creamy white flowers. Native to the Southeast, Pendula, or curve-leaf yucca, performs best in full sun but tolerates light shade. Plant it in sandy, rocky, or other well-draining soils. Its drought tolerance and easygoing nature also make it a great choice for beachy and coastal landscapes.

Planting & Care

1. Planting: Plant or repot within 4 weeks of arrival. Choose a location with full sun and sharply draining soil. Avoid low areas where water collects, and allow enough room for the foliage to spread naturally.

2. Watering: Water deeply after planting and regularly during the first growing season while roots establish. Once established, water only when the soil has dried thoroughly, as overly wet conditions can cause root rot.

3. Pruning: Remove damaged or fully brown leaves as needed, cutting them close to the base. Trim spent flower stalks after blooming and avoid cutting into healthy central growth.

4. Fertilizing: Fertilizer is rarely necessary. If growth appears weak, apply a light dose of balanced, slow-release fertilizer in spring and avoid overfeeding.
