Round, Medium-Sized Boxwood That's Disease-Resistant and Low-Maintenance
The NewGen Independence Boxwood is a shrub perfect for mass or formal planting. It's an improved cultivar that can give you many years of evergreen color.
This low-maintenance plant comes in a medium size and round shape for a gorgeous addition to any garden or yard. Plus, it's resistant to common boxwood issues like boxwood blight and leafminer.
This hardy plant is also resistant to diseases, pests, drought, and deer. In addition, this variety is easy to care for and even has yellowish-green flowers in the spring for even more color and vibrance.
About Proven Winners®: Proven Winners® ColorChoice Shrubs offers flowering shrubs, evergreens, and trees that have been tested for eight to ten years to ensure they outperform conventional varieties. That means bigger flowers, more colorful foliage, reblooming, disease resistance, new habits, or anything that makes them more beautiful and easier to grow in your landscape or garden.

Planting & Care
1. Planting: Plant boxwood in partial sun or shade with well-drained soil. It grows well in slightly acidic to slightly alkaline soil. Boxwood can grow in various part-shade situations but grows less vigorously in full shade. Water evenly, and space the plants 3-4.5 feet apart.
2. Watering: After planting, water thoroughly and then give the new plant a good soaking once a week during summer unless there is plenty of rainfall (more than 1 inch per week). Please note that when in doubt, do not water.
3. Fertilizing: Apply 1-2 inches of organic mulch (bark/compost) around roots. Use a balanced fertilizer like 10-10-10 or slow-release fertilizer after the 2nd year. Follow label instructions, spread evenly, and water in.
4. Pruning: Prune plants after the last spring frost to avoid damage. Avoid cultivating around plants due to their shallow roots.
