Rare citrus with bold, tangy fruit

The Nasnaran mandarin tree is an uncommon citrus valued for its small, aromatic fruit and distinctly tart flavor. Its juicy fruit can be used in drinks, sauces, preserves, and other recipes that benefit from a bright citrus note, making it an appealing choice for growers interested in rare and exotic fruit.

Glossy evergreen foliage, fragrant blossoms, and colorful fruit give this tree year-round landscape interest. Plant it in a sunny, protected location as a productive accent tree, or grow it in a large container where winters are cold.

Pollination Info

Nasnaran Mandarin Tree Pollination

Nasnaran Mandarin Trees are self-fertile. You will get fruit with only one plant. However, adding an additional Nasnaran Mandarin Tree will drastically increase the size of your crop.

Planting & Care

1. Planting: Plant or repot within 4 weeks of arrival. Remove the stake and ties at planting, as these are only for shipping. Choose a site with full sun and well-draining soil. In colder climates, plant in a large container that can be moved indoors before freezing weather.

2. Watering: Water deeply when the top 1–2 inches of soil feel dry. Keep young trees evenly moist while they establish, but avoid soggy soil. Container-grown trees may need more frequent watering during warm weather.

3. Pruning: Prune lightly in late winter or after harvest to remove dead, damaged, or crossing branches. Remove shoots growing from below the graft, and avoid heavy pruning that reduces flowering and fruit production.

4. Fertilizing: Apply a citrus fertilizer with micronutrients from spring through summer, following label directions. Reduce or stop feeding in fall and winter when growth naturally slows.
