A striking addition with its massive trunk and impressive growth

The Montezuma Cypress is an extraordinary fast-growing conifer that captivates with its impressive size and stunning stature. Often reaching monumental heights, it boasts one of the largest trunks in the tree world, making it a showstopper in any landscape. Whether you're designing a park or enhancing a spacious yard, this tree's substantial presence makes it an eye-catching focal point. Unlike its close relative, the Bald Cypress, it excels in both wet and dry environments, adapting beautifully to various landscape settings without developing the characteristic "knees."

In addition to its grand appearance, the Montezuma Cypress thrives in full sun, showcasing its lush foliage throughout the seasons. This semi-evergreen tree is also more drought tolerant, making it a resilient choice for gardens in need of low-maintenance greenery. If you're seeking a long-lived tree that offers both beauty and stability to your outdoor space, look no further than this remarkable specimen. Proper care and attention will ensure that this majestic tree provides enjoyment for generations to come.

Planting & Care

1. Planting: Plant or repot within 4 weeks of arrival. Remove the stake and ties at planting, as these are only for shipping. Choose a location with plenty of sunlight and sufficient space for the tree to mature. Dig a hole that’s at least twice the width of the root ball and equal in depth. Backfill the hole with native soil and water thoroughly after planting.

2. Watering: While establishing, water consistently to keep the soil lightly moist but not soggy. Once established, the Montezuma Cypress is drought tolerant; however, periodic deep watering during prolonged dry spells will encourage optimal growth.

3. Pruning: Once established, this tree requires minimal pruning. Focus on removing dead or damaged branches and any that rub against each other. Structural pruning should be done carefully and not exceed 25% of the canopy within a five-year period to maintain a healthy shape.

4. Fertilizing: A balanced, slow-release fertilizer may be applied in early spring to support strong growth, especially during the first few years. Avoid over-fertilizing, as this can lead to excessive leaf growth rather than trunk development.
