Why Fine Line® Buckthorn Shrubs?
With glossy green leaves on a compact, tidy shrub, the Fine Line® Buckthorn Shrub is perfect as an accent or border in any area. Plus, it couldn't be easier to grow, with deer resistance and drought tolerance.
Elegant and easy? Check. The Fine Line® delivers texture and shape to your garden. Fine Line ® uniquely produces very few berries, making it less invasive than other types. Glossy green foliage turns dazzling yellow in autumn, before dropping its leaves for winter.
Planting & Care
1. Planting: When it’s time to plant, dig a hole that’s twice the size of the shrub's root ball, place your plant and backfill the soil, then water to settle the roots.
2. Watering: Water regularly during the first full growing season. If you’re not sure when to water, simply check the soil about 2 to 3 inches down – if the soil is dry in this area, it’s time to water. Though Fine Line ® is drought tolerant, it will look its best with deep watering during periods of dry, hot weather.
3. Pruning: Pruning is seldom necessary for this variety, but if you’d like to shape it, trim it during the fall season.
4. Fertilizer: Apply a well-balanced, time-release fertilizer to your Buckthorn in the spring.
