A perfect low-maintenance indoor companion

The Cataractarum Palm, also known as the Cat Palm or Cascade Palm, is an excellent choice for anyone looking to add a touch of the tropics to their home. Featuring lush, fountain-like fronds that spill gracefully from dense, clumping stems, it delivers a vibrant splash of greenery to spots with indirect lighting. Perfect for that empty corner in your living room or study, this versatile plant thrives indoors and can easily transition outside to a shaded patio or beneath a pergola during the summer.

Not only does this palm bring a vibrant aesthetic to your home, the Cat Palm works to purify indoor air, supporting a healthier home environment. It’s also non-toxic to humans, cats, and dogs, so you can display it with peace of mind around children and pets. Simple to maintain, this lovely palm will bring a sense of calm, tranquility, and tropical beauty to your living space for years to come.

Planting & Care

1. Planting: Plant or repot within 4 weeks of arrival. Ensure the pot has drainage holes and use a light, well draining potting mix for palms, cactus, or citrus. Position the plant in a spot that receives bright, indirect light for optimal growth. Cataractarum Palms are cold hardy in zones 10-11 and can be moved outdoors for the summer months when temperatures are above 50 F. Place in shade or morning light and avoid full or afternoon sun when palm is outdoors.

2. Watering: Water the Cataractarum Palm when the top inch of soil feels dry. Be careful not to overwater, as soggy soil can lead to root rot. This plant prefers consistently moist conditions but should never sit in standing water.

3. Pruning: Remove any dead or discolored fronds as needed to maintain the plant's health and appearance. Regularly check for any excessive growth or out-of-shape fronds and trim back as necessary to encourage a fuller shape.

4. Fertilizing: Feed your palm with a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer during the growing season (spring and summer). Fertilize every 4-6 weeks to promote healthy growth. Reduce feeding during the fall and winter months when the plant’s growth slows down.
