Cool-toned spring color in a low-growing display
Blue Moon Mix crocus produces cup-shaped blooms in shades of blue, lavender, purple, and white. Each bag includes 18 bulbs, making it easy to create colorful groupings in garden beds, borders, or containers. Appearing in late winter to early spring, the flowers bring welcome color to borders, pathways, rock gardens, and spaces beneath deciduous trees.
These compact bulbs work well as a seasonal ground cover and gradually naturalize when left undisturbed. They are low maintenance and deer resistant, though hungry wildlife may occasionally browse them. Plant in groups for the strongest effect and allow the grassy foliage to remain until it naturally yellows.
Planting & Care
1. Planting: Plant or repot within 4 weeks of arrival. Plant bulbs in fall, 3–4 inches deep and 2–3 inches apart, with pointed ends facing up. Choose full sun to partial shade and loose, well-drained soil.
2. Watering: Water thoroughly after planting. Provide occasional water during active growth if rainfall is limited, but avoid wet or waterlogged soil. Reduce watering once the foliage dies back.
3. Pruning: Remove spent flowers if desired, but leave the foliage in place until it turns yellow and pulls away easily. This allows the bulbs to store energy for next year’s blooms.
4. Fertilizing: Apply a light layer of compost or balanced bulb fertilizer in fall or as growth begins in early spring. Avoid excessive nitrogen, which can encourage foliage instead of flowers.
