Planting & Care
1. Planting: Plant or repot within 4 weeks of arrival. Select a location that receives full sun and has well-draining soil for optimal growth. Dig a hole twice the width of the root ball and place the rose in gently, backfilling with soil and watering thoroughly. Spread a 3" layer of mulch three feet around the plant, pulling it back a few inches from the base.
2. Watering: During the first growing season, water twice weekly, adjusting for soil type and local conditions. Allow the top inch of soil to dry out before watering again. Once established, water deeply once a week.
3. Pruning: Prune in early spring when new growth begins to appear. Remove dead, weak, or crossing stems, shorten the overall plant by one-third, and shape the plant to encourage an open center for better airflow.
4. Fertilizing: Apply a balanced rose fertilizer in early spring and again in mid-summer.
